Uløya is quietly situated by the entrance to the Lyngenfjord, only 3 hours away from Tromsø. Go ski touring in spectacular surroundings, relax in the outdoor jacuzzi, and enjoy a massage or skintreatment in the spa, and enjoy a 3-course dinner in the evening based on local food, cooked by the chef Aud.
Uløya is a perfect base for ski touring, and you get fantastic ski touring opportunities just outside the door. On Uløya you will find worldclass ski touring mountains with great views towards the Lyngen Alps, the Kåfjord Alps, the Lyngenfjord and the island Kågen. The best known ski touring trips at Uløya is "The Grand Traverse of Uløya" - 20 kilometers of ridge skiing from Uløybukt to Havnnes taking in the summits of Blåtinden (1142 m), Uløytinden (1114 m) and Kjelvagtinden (1104 m). You can also choose a steep direct run down from Blåtinden right to your doorstep or take a gentle but wonderful trip up Saeteraksla (956 m) to enjoy the view.
A IFMGA certified guide who knows the Lyngen Alps and the summits in Uløya, Kåfjord and Skjervøy, will guide you to the best places for ski touring, and the summit to sea experience. Some of the ski touring trips are sail and ski, to reach the untouched and the most spectacular summits.
Arctic Panorama Lodge is an exclusive lodge, with a good athmosphere and is situated in quiet surroundings in Uløybukt at Uløya. Here you will get close to the nature, and get a break from the busy everyday life. Arctic Panorama Lodge has a outdoor jacuzzi, their own spa where you can book skin treatments and massages, a cozy bar and a large diningroom with a fireplace and a panoramic view of the fjord. Your hosts Aud and Svein will make you feel welcome and at home as soon as you enter the door.
Ski touring days
The day starts with a buffet breakfast in the diningroom from 7-9 AM, and during the breakfast you will pack your own lunch for todays ski touring adventure. After breakfast you head out with the guide for todays ski touring trip to one of the mountains either at Uløya, or sail and ski to one of the nearby mountains like the Lyngen Alps or the Kåfjord Alps. you will eat your packed lunch on the way up, or at the top of the summit.
After an exciting day ski touring and back at the lodge, it is time for relaxation, and good food and drinks. Aud is known as a super chef, and will serve you a 3-course dinner based on local products.
You can borrow a kick bike or snowshoes to explore the nearby area on your own. Every evening you will do a short briefing for tomorrows ski touring trip with the guide. Which mountain you willl climb tomorrow is chosen based on the skills of the participants, weather forecast and snowconditions.
