Reindeer Sledding in the Skibotn valley with the Samiway
Join us for a captivating journey into the heart of Sámi culture, where you'll meet gentle reindeer, glide through snowy landscapes, and hear captivating stories from Sámi herders themselves. Get ready for a day filled with unforgettable moments.
Discover the rich heritage of the indigenous Sámi people with our reindeer experience. Journey into the Arctic wilderness and engage with traditional sami reindeer herders. Interact with our gentle reindeer, enjoy a tranquil sleigh ride through snowy landscapes and hear fascinating stories from experienced Sámi herders.
After the visit at the Samicamp you will be transported to Skibotn Hotel, where you will enjoy a warm meal in their sami restaurant before heading back to Tromsø.
We have both a day tour (09:00-17:30) and an evening tour (17:00-00:30)
This full day adventure includes:
- Meet and get close to our kind and cozy reindeer
- Plenty of opportunities to take a selfie with reindeers
- Hear real stories from our life with reindeer husbandry
- Learn how Sámi people catch reindeer and try your own lasso throwing skills
- Relaxed reindeer sledding (ca 30 min)
- Transfer Tromsø - Skibotn (ca 2 hrs each way)
- Hot drinks and Bidos (reindeer broth) served in the sami restaurant at Skibotn Hotel
Please bring: Warm clothes (at least two layers), mittens, hat, good winter boots.
Departure time and place:
Day tour: Nearby Scandic Ishavshotel. Look for the Arctic Route bus towards Storslett. The bus departs at 09:00, please be there by 08:45.
Return to Tromsø ca 17:30
Once you arrive in Skibotn you will be meet by a guide and get on another bus which will take you to the reindeer experience.
Evening tour: 16:45 outside Scandic Ishavshotel, the bus leaves at 17:00. Look for a bus direction Skibotn/Hatteng
Back in Tromsø ca 00:30
Duration: 7 hours (included transfer 2 hrs each way)
