Join us for an unforgettable overnight journey from Tromsø to Skibotn - known for it's clear skies and good chances to see the northern light.
This all-inclusive escape combines authentic Sami culture, close encounters with our reindeers, fjord and mountain scenery, and a bonfire Aurora experience - all wrapped into one seamless and comfortable adventure.
Itinerary
Day 1: Scenic bus ride, sami storytelling, husky visit and northern lights
Your journey begins with a scenic bus ride through the fjord and mountain landscape surrounding Tromsø. The Arctic Route bus, departs from Tromsø Prostneset (bus terminal) at 09:00 and you arrive in Skibotn at 10:50
Upon arriving in Skibotn, you will be welcomed into the warmth of our lavvu with hot drinks by the fire, while your host shares stories about Sami culture, traditions, and everyday life.
Then, enjoy encountering the animals:
- Feed and photograph gentle reindeer
- Visit a local husky farm and meet both sled dogs and puppies
In between the reindeer and husky visit we will serve a traditional sami lunch featuring Bidos.
Returning after the husky visit, you check into your room and can relax.
In the evening dinner will be served in our sami inspired restaurant before heading outside to enjoy the evening around one of our bonfires. This is the perfect place to relax and wait for the Northern Lights to appear.
Day 2: Winter activity/Free time
After enjoying your breakfast, you can choose what you would like to do.
Relax and explore Skibotn. We have snowshoes for rent and can give you some tips to nice short hikes nearby.
Lunch will be served at the hotel
Check out is at 12:00 and the return bus to Tromsø is at 15:35. Arrival in Tromsø ca 17:30.
Alternativly you can book a dog sledding activity or snowmobile safari which we can provide with our partner in Skibotn. Both tours depart from the hotel at 10:45 and include lunch.
It is possible to extend your stay at the Lyngenfjord Hotel.
