Description

Join a memorable day trip from Tromsø to the beautiful Lyngenfjord, where spectacular nature, living culture and encounters with animals take center stage.

The journey begins with the Arctic Route from Tromsø, travelling through one of Northern Norway’s most stunning fjord landscapes, with views of the dramatic Lyngen Alps and small coastal villages along the fjord. Upon arrival at Lyngenfjord Hotel, you will be warmly welcomed by the hotel hosts and Sami people dressed in traditional Sami gákti, a strong symbol of Sami culture and identity.

The experience begins at the reindeer enclosure, where you will meet calm and friendly reindeer. Reindeer herding has been a cornerstone of Sami culture for generations, and here you can get close to the animals, feed them and take photos while learning about their importance in the north.

You will then be invited into a traditional lavvu tent, where hot and cold drinks are served around the fire. A Sami host will share stories and traditions about Sami culture, nature and life in the north – an authentic experience offering a unique insight into traditions that are still alive today.

Lunch is served in the restaurant at Lyngenfjord Hotel, where you will enjoy the hotel’s flavorful reindeer soup, inspired by local culinary traditions.

After lunch, the journey continues to a nearby husky farm. Here you will meet energetic sled dogs, greet playful puppies and learn more about dog sledding and life at a husky kennel. Inside a lavvu, you will also hear stories about the important role sled dogs have played in the north.

Before returning, there is time to enjoy the view of the fjord, explore the surroundings of the hotel or visit the souvenir shop.

A day filled with nature, culture, history and close encounters with both reindeer and huskies – a true experience of life in the north.
